Another up and coming youngster is Reeza Hendrcks, who at 20 years, has scored 4 hundreds so far in first class cricket, with the lastest against the Warriors, with Makhaya Ntini in the lineup. His 109 in the second innings, was after he managed 81 in the first. Interestingly both dismissals were bowled by Ntinin and taken by Arno Jacobs, quit possibly in the slips. He is apparently studying sports management in case he doesnt make it as a cricketer, but one would imagine with 4 hundreds and 9 fifty’s before your 21st birthday, you have a good shot at making the grade.
Reeza has played for SA at under 19 level and scored 156 against Bangladesh u19.
If you know anymore about Reeza or were at school with him please send me more information about the young gun. firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you
I have mentioned Jon Jon Smuts previously on here about Jon-Jon. I am sure his classmates will tell you he is destined for greater things, after breaking the school record for the amount of runs scored for the first team. To recap, Jon-Jon’s statistics include:
-played 80 matches for the Graeme College 1st team
-represented E.P. U18 team for 3 years i.e. 2004, 2005 and captain in 2006
-scored 4220 runs at an average of 57,8 runs per innings
-scored 14 centuries. His highest was 190 runs (see detail below)
-took 141 wickets at an average per wicket of 19.4 runs
Smuts, reached 150 today, his second hundred in the supersport series, which was curiosly curtailed by a declaration on 315/3 some 76 runs BEHIND the Eagles total. After this knock Jon-Jon should keep a regular place in the squad, however he has performed well in the lower tier the CSA provincial challenge this year.
Keep an eye on Jon-Jon and his younger brother Kelly Smuts
