The first weekend of May turned out to be very fruitful for HD Ackerman, who not only managed to catch Jacques Rudolph off the bowling of Cummins on 100 he also scored 66 and helped Leicertershire chase down Yorkshire’s 282 with ease. Langeveldt picked up 3-53 in ten for Leicestershire.
Ackerman wasnt the only South African smiling, Middlesex managed 233 off 41 against Kent with Hall going for 1-49 in 8 and Ryan Mclaren getting 1-32 in 8 overs. Hall again came in at three, and again didnt need sunscreen as he exited for 2, which brought Marting van Jaarsveld to the crease and he clearly wasnt worried about the Middlesex attack smashing 86 runs off 65 balls helping Kent to an easy 5 wicket victory.
Dale Benkenstein failed dismally against Lancashire, however his side ensured that his failure wasnt costly, beating Lancashire by 57 runs.
Ant Botha continued his good form after his recent 150 odd for Derbyshire by picking 3-52 in 7 against Warwickshire, but it wasnt enough as Warwickshire sett 244 and having Dale Steyn opening the bowling and picking the number one and three in his opening spell was always going to prove difficult, however G Smith from South Africa tried to turn the match for Derbyshire. One might think that G Smith was South African captain Graham Smith but its really Greg Smith making 56 off 59 balls. Another man on a Kolpak contract, he represented South Africa at u-19 level.
Davey Jacobs met his namesake Arno Jacobs when he joined Klusener and van der Wath at Northamptonshire. Arno only made 30 for Scotlannd, however Davey showed Northamptonshire some early dividends for choosing him to fill the spot of their injured overseas player, blasting 88 off 98 balls. In Scotland’s innings they faced Van der Wath and Klusener opening the bowling, and a combination it was with VDW picking up 2-24 and Klusener 1-30 in each of their 7 overs. They were also at the crease together to get the winning runs with Klusener making 24 off 27 and VDW 17 off 9 balls.#
Hayward continued his at least a run a ball bowling effort getting 1-39 in 6 against Hampshire whilst representing Ireland.
